Marie Roper

CV

I studied at Stafford College of Art, with the intention of entering adult education as teacher of recreational classes. Then, at Westhope College, I began teaching the open craft group and from this the City & Guilds class in embroidery to which I added teaching the City & Guilds Diploma in  embroidery, machine embroidery, lace, patchwork and quilting and creative computing to my list of subjects.

I now teach on-line City & Guilds courses in creative computing and patchwork & quilting.

I am active as a textile maker, this is an important part of my life.

I also create digital images using my artwork, drawings and textiles to produce complex images.

I am a member of the  exhibiting group SiX,  a group of artists who work mainly in textiles, although  we also exhibit drawings, sketchbooks and I have exhibited my digital images.

We  have held  successful national and international exhibitions since we formed in 2000.
